Information that can be
viewed:

Attendance – Questions regarding this should be directed
to the homeroom teacher.
Grades – Questions regarding grades should be directed to
the teacher of the subject in question. Teachers determine the
students’ grades including the weighing of individual assignments,
tests, etc. For Grades 1 and 2, all subjects are graded using E, P,
I and NA codes. The numbers beneath these grading codes are not
grades. The numbers are a convention the computer uses. For Grades
3-8, letter grades of A, B, C, D and E are given for all subjects
EXCEPT Art, Music, Physical Education, Library and Computer which
may be graded using P, G, S, I and N codes. All teachers will use
the following codes with the given meanings in reporting grades:
Codes:
EX – exempt or excused. Student does not need to
complete assignment.
AB – student was absent when the assignment was
collected.
NHI – the assignment was not handed in (student was
present when the assignment was collected.)
M – medical
R – Redo. Assignment was returned to the student to redo
and the student has not handed it back to the teacher.
Frequency of Updates:
Teachers will input grades weekly. Attendance will be entered daily
when possible. Otherwise attendance will be entered within one
week.
Logging into Powerschool:
Using the browser, Internet Explorer, type
https://Baltimore5.powerschool.com in the
address bar. Type in your username and password exactly as given in
the letter from the Archdiocese. Make sure it is a “0” and not a
capital “O” or the number “1” and not an “l”. Click the enter
button. You can also go to the Sacred Heart website:
www.shgschool.org/powerschool/parent_access.htm
and follow the links to Powerschool. At the parent login screen,
enter your login ID and your password..
Grades and Attendance:
(Back
To Top)
This is the default screen that you see when you first log in.
On
the left you will notice a “Per” or Period column. This is only for
the computer to order the subjects. This does not indicate the time
of day a student had a certain class.
Last week and This Week indicate the student’s attendance. See the
Legend at the bottom of the screen for the attendance codes.
(Example: If a student is late, T for Tardy will be entered in that
date). You will notice AM and PM attendance listed. This
corresponds to morning and afternoon. If a student is absent for
the entire day, the student is absent for AM and PM attendance. The
Attendance Total at the bottom of the column will reflect 2 periods
absent if the student is absent for an entire day. This will only
be a (1) day absence on the Progress Report. All of your students’
subjects are listed under “Course”.
All
of your students’ teachers are listed below the course they teach.
If you wish to email a teacher, you may click on their name to do so
directly.
Columns T1, T2, T3 and Y1 indicate the final grade as of today for
Trimesters 1, 2, 3 and the entire year. You will notice that T2 and
T3 read “0” until grades are entered for that semester.
If
you click on the numerical average, a detailed listing of all
assignments will display.
NOTE: It is important to read how many points an
assignment is worth to determine how much it influences the final
grade.
For example:
9/5/07 Worksheet 1 Grade: A (5/5=100%) 9/15/07 Test 1 Grade: C+
(80/100 = 80%)
In
this case, the worksheet is only worth 5 points, where the test is
worth 100 points. The average would be 85/105 which is 80%=C+.
