Dear
Friends of Sacred Heart School:
It is with enthusiasm and excitement that I join the Sacred
Heart School community! It has been my pleasure to meet the
talented faculty, staff and parents who are dedicated to the
success of our students and school.
As your new principal, I am particularly grateful for the
important support the Sacred Heart parents have provided
over the years for our teachers and the children through
their contributions to the school’s Annual Fund. As you may
already know, the costs to educate our children are only
partially covered by the school tuition. The difference is
made up thanks to Sacred Heart Parish, some corporation and
foundation support and from donations to the school’s Annual
Fund.
Thanks to the generosity of our school community, last year
over $66,000 was raised through the Annual Appeal. The
school was able to purchase 17 wireless laptop computers and
a laptop cart for our Middle School students with $13, 240
of the funds raised. Another $6,620 went to the school’s
permanent endowment which now stands at $20,000. Finally,
$46,333, the bulk of the total Annual Fund contributions,
went to the school’s operating budget to help defray rising
costs such as health benefits for our faculty. Had these
funds not been available, the tuition for this current
school year would have been higher.
This year, we would like to raise $70,000 from parents,
alumni, and friends. The Annual Fund committee plans to use
$10,050 (15%) of the funds raised to purchase 17 more laptop
computers for the Middle School. Another $10,050 will go to
our Endowment Fund, and $49,000 (70%) will go to the
school’s operating budget. We feel this strategy will
provide important funds for items that are outside the
school’s budget while helping to keep tuition costs down. |
