Lenten Outreach

LENTEN OUTREACH ~ Your Help is Needed!

THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO SERVE OTHERS IN OUR COMMUNITY THIS LENT.

  1.    Bring in Non-perishable or Personal Care Items-

  • To benefit the St. Vincent De Paul (Sacred Heart’s) food pantry (drop off in bins located in both the gym and main lobbies)

  • Needed items: boxed macaroni & cheese, canned fruit, pasta & sauce, tuna, canned ham, canned chicken, stew, peanut butter, jelly, chunky soup, shampoo, toothpaste, boxed mashed potatoes, boxed rice

  1.    Volunteer! Help Make Sandwiches-

  • A few helpers are needed each Friday in Lent, after dropoff, to help the students make cheese sandwiches for Our Daily Bread in Baltimore.

  • (7th grade March 8, 4th & 5th grades – March 15, 3rd & 6th grades – March 22,   2nd & 8th grades – April 12)

  • If you would like to make meatless sandwiches at home, please feel free to drop them off any Friday of Lent in either lobby.

  1. Special Collection – week of March 18

The parish has invited the school to join in a special collection of food to benefit Operation Mato Grosso: Food Drive for South America, which is a group of young people who work to support missions in 110 different communities across Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru.

Specific donations of only the following items are requested:

Pasta, rice, sugar, flour, canned vegetables and cooking oil to be used in their schools, soup kitchens, hospitals, and clinics. Their goal is to ship the food to Peru right after Easter. For more info, the website is www.artesanosdonbosco.com
