About Sacred Heart School

Mission Statement

Sacred Heart School is a co-educational Catholic parish school dedicated to academic excellence, faith formation and service to others.  We are a faith community committed to teaching the word of God and to giving witness to the message of Jesus Christ.

Philosophy

Sacred Heart school is a co-educational Catholic parish school dedicated to academic excellence, faith formation and service to others. At the core of what we do as community is the message of Jesus Christ. From the time that our students come to us as three year olds, to the time that they leave us as young adolescents, our entire school community works together to instill in our children a deep love and respect for God, for the Church, and for all people.

We believe that children learn first and best from their parents. The teachers and staff of Sacred Heart School assist our parents in this important mission. We model our teaching after Christ, the master teacher. We believe that the school, the home and the church have a sacred responsibility to work together to develop in our students strong Catholic-Christian morals, values and beliefs.

Our school’s fundamental mission is to create moral leaders for the future. With the message of the Gospels as our guide, we strive to create a warm, welcoming Christian school climate in which respect, prayer, kindness, compassion and service to others are valued. We teach by example and encourage our students to be virtuous in thought, word and deed. We infuse the principles of Catholic social teaching throughout our curriculum and school community to give witness to our Catholic faith.

We believe in a socio-economically diverse school culture. We want our students to respect and appreciate people of all races and faiths. We promote multi-cultural awareness and teach our students the skills they need for life in a global, highly technological society. Sacred Heart School treasures the importance of taking care of ourselves, other people, our school and our earth.

We believe that children learn best when they are nurtured, challenged and supported both at school and at home. We promote high academic standards, yet we recognize that children bring diverse learning styles to the classroom. Our teachers continually grow as educators, so that we can meet the holistic needs of every child: academic, spiritual, physical, social and psychological. We encourage teaching excellence and foster creativity, critical thinking, strong study habits, and a lifelong desire for intellectual growth in our students. We encourage our students “to reach for the stars” and to use their God-given talents to the fullest.

Sacred Heart School is a Catholic community dedicated to teaching the word of God and to giving witness to the message of Jesus Christ. The students, parents, faculty and staff strive to be people of generosity and charity. Our philosophy echoes the prayer of Archbishop Romero, “This is what we are about: We plant seeds that one day will grow. We water seeds already planted, knowing they hold future promise. We lay foundations that will need further development. We provide yeast that provides future effects beyond our capabilities.” By developing our gifts to the fullest and by sharing our gifts with each other and with those less fortunate, we can build God’s Kingdom on Earth.

School Goals

Evolving from this philosophy, the goals of Sacred Heart School are as follows:
  • Establish and nurture a partnership with parents, guardians and care givers designed to assist each child’s full development .
  • Instill in each child a sense of self worth that commands a sincere respect for themselves and others.
  • Provide a rich environment in which each child can grow and mature according to his/her unique abilities, distinctive qualities and personal gifts.
  • Provide a supportive environment, challenging curriculum, and meaningful activities that will enable each child to maximize his/her academic potential.
